Police vehicle upfitting

Patrol vehicles built from the chassis up: lighting, siren, console, partition, storage and power, installed as one clean system.

Part of our municipality program

Police Vehicle Upfitting

Overview

A patrol vehicle is an officer's office for an entire shift. Car Toys Commercial upfits police SUVs, sedans and pickups with every system the vehicle needs to go into service, planned around your agency's equipment list and the vehicle manufacturer's police package and upfitter guidelines.

Instead of sending a new unit to separate vendors for lights, radios, partitions and storage, your fleet team gets one build sheet, one schedule and one accountable installer. Harnesses are labeled and loomed, circuits are fused at the source, and the finished layout is documented so the vehicle is easy to maintain and easy to strip when it is retired.

What we install

Emergency lighting and siren
Roof light bars, interior visor and dash lights, grille, mirror and perimeter lighting, siren amplifiers and speakers, wired through a control head or switch panel.
Consoles and equipment mounting
Vehicle-specific consoles, radio and control head mounts, computer and tablet docks, printer mounts and armrests placed for the officer's reach and airbag clearance.
Partitions and rear seating
Prisoner partitions, window guards and molded transport seats sized for your vehicle model.
Push bumpers and exterior equipment
Push bumpers and lighting brackets mounted to manufacturer-approved points.
Rear storage and cargo
Equipment trays, lockable drawers, weapon and gear vaults, and fire extinguisher and first aid mounts.
Power distribution
Power distribution modules, battery isolation, timers and auxiliary outlets so equipment runs without draining the vehicle.
Radio and video provisioning
Antenna mounts, cable runs and power leads prepared for your agency's radio, modem and in-car video installers.

How an upfit project works

  1. Talk to our commercial team

Tell us about your vehicles, your crews and what they need to carry, power or protect. We will ask the right questions and visit if it helps.

  2. Approve a written spec

We recommend products and a layout, price each vehicle configuration, and send a written spec and quote for approval.

  3. Build and review a pilot

For multi-vehicle orders we upfit one vehicle first and walk it with your team before the rest of the order is built to match.

  4. Install, test and document

Every vehicle is installed to the manufacturers' instructions, tested system by system, and documented.

  5. Deliver ready to work

Vehicles are returned on schedule with documentation, so they go straight into service.

Ready to plan your project?

Talk with our commercial team about your vehicles, timeline and budget. We will recommend the right products and send a written quote.

Questions we hear often

Which patrol vehicles do you upfit?

We upfit the police-package SUVs, sedans and pickups agencies commonly run, plus unmarked and administrative vehicles. Tell us the year, make and model and we will confirm fitment for your equipment.

Can you install equipment we have already purchased?

Yes. We can install agency-supplied equipment, supply it for you, or combine both. We will confirm compatibility and mounting before the build starts.

Do you install radios and in-car video?

We prepare antenna mounts, cable runs and power for radios, modems and video systems, and coordinate with the vendors who program and certify them for your agency.

How long does a patrol build take?

It depends on the equipment list and how many vehicles are in the order. After we review your spec, we provide a build schedule for the pilot unit and the rest of the fleet.
