What is Dolby Atmos, and how is it different from regular surround sound?
Dolby Atmos is a spatial audio experience—sounds are placed in three dimensions around and above you, so each layer comes through with depth, clarity, and detail. It’s the same technology used in premium home theaters, music streaming, gaming, and theatrical cinema, now available in your vehicle.
How do I get Dolby Atmos in my car?
You need two things: an Atmos-capable device and Atmos content to play through it. Pioneer Sphera is the first aftermarket in-dash receiver with Dolby Atmos. Streaming services such as Apple Music, Tidal, and Amazon Music, along with select sources, provide Atmos-encoded content.
Professional installation calibrates the system to your specific cabin so it delivers the spatial effect properly.
Do I need to replace my speakers to get Dolby Atmos?
No. Sphera is designed to deliver spatial audio through the front and rear speakers already in your vehicle. It works with most factory and aftermarket speaker systems, and PURE Autotuning calibrates the output to your cabin’s specific acoustics.
Why does Car Toys say a self-install won’t sound the same as a Car Toys install?
Atmos is a precision technology. The experience depends on the listener being placed at a calibrated acoustical center. PURE Autotuning has to be performed correctly: time alignment, frequency response, and channel levels measured for your specific vehicle.
A unit installed without proper calibration will play Atmos-encoded files, but the spatial effect that makes Atmos sound like Atmos doesn’t fully come through. Professional installation is what makes the difference.
How long does a Sphera installation take?
Most Sphera installations take 3–5 hours, including the PURE Autotuning calibration. We’ll provide an exact estimate during your consultation based on your vehicle and any optional speaker upgrades.
Will installing Sphera void my vehicle’s warranty?
No. Federal law (the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) protects consumers from having a vehicle warranty voided simply because an aftermarket head unit was installed.

Does Sphera work with Apple Music, Tidal, and Amazon Music Atmos content?
Yes. Sphera plays Dolby Atmos content from supported streaming services and sources. Available content varies by service and subscription tier.
A streaming subscription is required for Atmos-encoded tracks.
What’s covered by the Car Toys installation guarantee?
Our installation work is guaranteed for as long as you own the vehicle. If anything we installed needs adjustment—a wire, mount, or recalibration—bring it back to any Car Toys location and we’ll make it right.
