A subwoofer is a loudspeaker component designed to reproduce very low bass frequencies to help improve your overall music enjoyment experience. While car speakers are small, they are not designed to produce enough low-frequency sound to enrich your music fullness. A subwoofer will help upgrade your listening experience from good to great.
Subwoofers are made up of one or more woofers mounted in a loudspeaker enclosure, often made of wood with capabilities of withstanding air pressure while resisting deformation.
Car Toys car audio experts can help you choose the best subwoofer to suit your needs. We can also help you pair the subwoofers to the best subwoofer enclosure box or we have certified experts in store to help you custom build the perfect box for your car and the subwoofers you select. We carry a variety of name brand car audio equipment from Alpine, Boss Audio, Kenwood, JL Audio, Kicker and more! We can guide you in picking and choose the best components to help you build a truly personalized system.
To build a truly personalized system, you will want to start by looking at component subs. A component sub is just the speaker on it's own, and usually ranges in size from 8 inches to 15 inches. The component sub speaker will need to be mounted in a subwoofer enclosure or box. Enclosure boxes are available pre-built and readily available from manufactures. Car Toys have experts and MECP certified installers in store with the knowledge and experience to help you build a personalized enclosure box fit for your vehicle.
If you are looking for an all in one solution, Car Toys carries "off-the-shelf" sub enclosure combos. These ready-to-go combo packages are enclosed subs that are pre-mounted into a box designed to accomodate the sub. This means you won't need to choose an enclosure for your sub and can mean less work in designing and building your system. The only down side is you will be limited to the selection of speaker and box-type choices. The subwoofer and enclosure combos do not come with an amp to power the sub.
Aside from the component sub (speaker) and enclosure box, you will need to power the sub with an external amplifier. Check out our entire selection of amplifiers.
