Twelve 12” woofers in a Ford Focus…and still see out the back window! Well, Team Car Toys and the Ft. Worth region took on the challenge to build a little Ford Focus with a REALLY BIG SOUND SYSTEM: a 2001 Ford Focus with 6,400 watts! With the challenge accepted, they set out to design a system that would not only look awesome but also be a really pounding showstopper.
The system was designed by Rob Smith, laid out by Darrell Nalley, and installed by Lee Foster with the assistance of Dennis Long. After 300 intensive hours of labor, the Focus rolled out of the installation bay and immediately stole the show. Meter readings in the 155+ dB range and crystal clear mids make this Ford Focus impressive to even the most avid car audio fanatic.
Fiberglass kick panels holding a set of 5 ¼” components and a pair of 6” components in the doors makes the clean sound up front. A fiberglass pod built into the rear doors blast the passengers as they’re wowed by the 7” widescreen monitor in the dash, a 6” screen in each door, and a 6” screen in the back by the PS2. Fiberglass enclosures on each side house six 12” woofers and a floating amp rack holds six amps: four 1200’s and two 800’s – all accented by eye-catching neon. The center console was rebuilt to accept the head unit that controls a six-disc changer in the glove box. Two yellow top Optima batteries are tucked under the car with a 150 amp power supply to give the Focus enough juice to rumble all day long!
